This week in Melbourne the Grand Prix wasn’t the only event concerned about safety. Over 300 safety professionals attended the Safety in Action Conference to keep up to date with new developments in the Occupational Health and Safety industry.
This year LRQA sponsored and spoke at the conference which combines discussions on health and safety legislation, issues and practices across Australia and the world.
LRQA’s Linda Warwick and Beth Pardoe spoke on how safety systems must integrate in an organisations business stream. Linda commented that, “In Australia, organisations are faced with many challenges, and must meet high safety standards which are constantly evolving. Safety Management Systems therefore need to be adaptable and become part of the business. That way measures in place will stand up to scrutiny and really support the businesses objectives.”
The conference also focused on how people in organisations are not a problem to be controlled when it comes to safety, but a solution that can be harnessed for improvement.
