Food safety is a hot topic in Asia; most recently, Vice Premier Li Keqiang, Head of the National Food Safety Commission, State Council, P.R.C. said: “Food is essential and safety should be a top priority. Food Safety is closely related to people’s lives and health, economic development and social harmony. We must create a food safety system of self-discipline in food companies with integrity, effective government supervision and broad public support to improve overall food safety.” Over the next few months, Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance (LRQA) will be participating at a number of key strategic food safety events in China, Japan and India.
• GFSI Food Safety Day - Tokyo, Japan - 30 October
The event will feature presentations from LRQA and progress updates from the GFSI Japan Local Working Group, newly initiated this January (and also the first GFSI regional working group in the world), as well as initiative updates from an invited GFSI Board Member. There will also be presentations on case studies about GFSI efforts conducted in Japan and in other countries.
• CIFSQ, Shanghai, China 7-8 November
LRQA is exhibiting and delivering a key presentation with Mars Chocolate China to examine the power of customised audit programmes at the sixth annual China International Food Safety & Quality conference (CIFSQ). CIFSQ offers food safety stakeholders an unparalleled opportunity to come together to discuss and solve the most pressing food safety challenges.
• GFSI Food Safety Day - New Delhi, India - 4 December
LRQA is part of the first GFSI Focus Day in India, designed to raise awareness around the benefits of GFSI as the demand for primary and processed goods from this region of the world has grown significantly over the past years.
LRQA will be using a mixture of global thought leadership from Cor Groenveld, who is Head of Food Supply Chain Services at LRQA as well as Chairman of the Foundation for Food Safety Certification, combined with local thought leadership and technical insight from our food sector specialists in each of these countries. In addition, we will be building on our alliance with the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) with participation at their events in India and Japan.
To support our involvement with these events, LRQA recently held a webinar on food safety. To view the LRQA Global Food Supply Chain Audits & Certification Webinar, please click here.
Keep watching for further updates, articles and insight as we move towards the events themselves.
